1-Carat Emerald-Cut Diamonds

What are 1-Carat Emerald Diamonds?

1-carat diamonds are diamonds that weighs 200 milligrams.

A carat is a unit of measurement used to weigh diamonds and other precious stones. One carat is equal to 200 mg. It shouldn’t be confused with “karat”, which is a measurement used to determine the hardness of gold.

On average, a 1-carat diamond is about the size of a pencil eraser. So, while it may not sound very big, it’s actually a decently sized diamond.

Why choose a 1 carat emerald cut diamond?

1-carat diamonds are very popular among the general public. As I’ve already pointed out, they’re relatively big. And, they’re much more affordable than 2 or 3-carat diamonds.

The price of diamonds ranges. It depends on their quality, the market, and the seller. But, on average, diamonds go for around $1400 per carat on the gemstone market

So, a 1-carat ring is going to cost you at least $2,000, depending on where you buy it.

As you start to go bigger, you’ll find that jewelers mark the price higher. A 2-carat diamond, for example, is going to go more than double than the amount of a 1-carat, simply because of its prestige. So, if you go with a 1-carat ring instead of something larger, you might actually score a deal.

what are the downsides of these diamonds?

1-carat diamonds are typically a good buy if that’s the size you want. There aren’t any downsides with 1-karats as a group, per se, as long as you know what you’re getting.

But, the problems come into play when you start looking into the quality of the stones themselves. Some diamonds are poorly cut, rough around the edges, or simply don’t fit very well into the ring.

To spot these problems, you’ll need to take it to an outside jeweler for inspection. They’ll let you know whether or not the stone is of good quality and whether or not you got a good deal.
